NO TIME? NO SWEAT!
It’s a new year, which is the perfect time to start thinking in new ways. Being open minded when it comes to ways to improve yourself is a huge step. If you think you have to go to the gym and get sweaty to burn off extra calories every single day…THINK AGAIN! Burning calories is as easy as washing a dish yourself instead of the dishwasher doing it for you. Sounds too easy, but it’s true. People who have the mindset of being a busy body are more likely to stay active than those with the “all or nothing” outlook.
Don’t have time for a full workout because you have chores or a ton of errands to do? No problem, start thinking of ways that you could burn more calories doing these things. All it takes to burn calories is to think of more ways to get moving. Adopt this attitude and before you know it, you’ll be burning extra calories continuously and probably even start making better lifestyle choices in general. Here’s a few ideas to get you started…
-
Walk like you’re late (brisk) and go out of your way. Make the distance a bit further than it needs to be.
-
Engage (squeeze) your abs and glutes while you walk. You can even do this when you’re sitting.
-
Turn on motivating music when you’re thinking about just being lazy and watching TV. You may be surprised to find yourself wanting to do other things instead.
-
Turn cleaning into a workout. Get into it. Make up your own rules. (Like 10 squats between each room you vacuum).
-
Drink tea, not only is it filled with antioxidants, but it’s can even give you a little boost of energy.
-
Sit up. Improving your posture will pull in your midsection. This position is much easier on your back and shoulders.
-
Take your vitamins. You’ll feel better and have more energy.
-
Drink cold water often. Having a busy lifestyle requires better hydration.
-
Walk while you’re talking on the phone.
-
Lastly, try fun little active things when out with friends and loved ones such as bowling, or head to a spot that has air hockey, ping pong, or dancing.
