Susan G. Shapiro is a health and safety education consultant. She has developed both national and international model health and environmental education programs. Her programs have been initiated into the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, into school districts across the US, and into 25 countries across the globe. She created the largest health education program in Eastern and Central Europe and has trained professionals in twenty-five countries. Ms. Shapiro has worked closely with the transportation industry, writing materials to improve the health and safety of drivers. Her publications include: Dear Unknown Friends: Children’s Letters from Sarajevo, The Curtain Rises: Oral Histories of the Fall of Communism in Eastern Europe, (McFarland Publishers, 2004), and Environment and Our Global Community (International Debate Education Association, 2005).
